User Account
How do I get an ETH account?
You should receive your ETH account credentials by postal mail as soon as you successfully applied for a study at D-BAUG.
I did not get the ETH account - where can I get one?
Please contact us to make an appointment so we can check why you did not get your account information or to create a guest account for you in some specific situation.
You need to bring your ETH Student Card with you or an other official identity card with a photograph of you.
I forgot my ETH password, how can I get a new one?
Please contact us to make an appointment so we can reset your password.
You need to bring your ETH student card with you or an other official identity card with a photograph of you.
I leave/left ETH, how long will my email address and ETH account be valid?
From the day, when you left ETH and you do not have any relations to the ETH anymore your email address will be available for 5 more month.
After that your mailbox will be deleted and your email address will not be reachable anymore.
If you are just transferred to an other ETH unit, all your email addresses are still valid.
In case your account is going to be expired, you will always be informed by email in advanced. If you think that the expiration is wrong or you have significant reasons why you should keep your account, contact us.

Email Account
How can I setup a forward of all my @student.ethz.ch emails to my privat mailbox?
Each student at ETH gets an email address following the schema USERNAME@student.ethz.ch where USERNAME is your actual login name. Most of the emails regarding your study at ETH are going to be sent to that email address.
You can now either read your emails with your favorite email client program, your mobile device or by web access on https://mail.ethz.ch.
Further information about how to configure your email client program.
Another possibility is to forward each email to your private email account (like GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo and so on).
An email forwarding can be setup like this:

Go to menu Self Service
| Manage Forward
In the Recipient
field enter the email address of your private email account
Optionally you could enable the option Save and forward mails
that enables the function to store each email in your ETH mailbox and forwards it to your external email address you have entered in the Recipient
field.
Click button Save
Click Logout

How to restore data from backup server?
In case you have accidentally deleted a file or folder in your home directory, you can restore them by accessing Restore previous versions
in the context menu (right mouse click).
