Terms of Use

The BAUWELT computer labs are highly frequented by courses and training that are done individually by the students as well as external industrial courses. For a perfect coexistence of all the different events the following rules apply to the BAUWELT computer rooms:

  • Outside of the regular semester blocks (Spring Term and Autumn Term) every department member can use the computer rooms following the first come first serve principle. If you plan to run external events please contact the BAUWELT IT Team.
  • Official courses are handled with priority.
  • An electronic door sign shows the room reservations of the current day. To get an overview of the whole semester you can check the room booking system at https://booking.bauwelt.ethz.ch/.
  • Every individually working student in a particular lab has to leave when a registered course takes place.
  • In all BAUWELT computer rooms eating or drinking is prohibited
  • Please tidy up the workplace before you leave. Your fellow students will be thankful for that
    • Bring your chair in its upright position
    • Arrange the keyboard and mouse centered in front of the display. Place the mouse at the right side of the keyboard
    • Lower down the display at its' lowest position adjust the angle of the display slightly more than 90 degrees relating the table surface
    • Remove any paper, napkins, etc. from your workplace (in each room you'll find rubbish and paper bins)
    • Verify that you don't leave your USB stick connected to the computer. If you forget to take your USB device with you or you find a USB stick of someone else, please contact the BAUWELT IT Team.
  • If you need additional software for your study or exercises please contact your teacher or supervisor to submit a legitimate software install request.
  • Do not try to download or install software on your own on any of the student workstations since there is a huge risk to infect your user profile or home data with malware or even ransomware.
  • When the installed antivirus scanner informs you about a threat please do not retry the current action and contact the BAUWELT IT Team.

Thank you for helping us and your fellow students to keep the BAUWELT rooms clean and running!
